TAMPA, Fla. — Aaron Judge couldn’t hide his joy as he stood near home plate at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Tuesday, surrounded by a formidable group of hitters that included Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton, and Alex Verdugo. Amidst the laughter and the crack of bats, it was a tantalizing glimpse into what lies ahead in the upcoming season.

While the Yankees’ captain expressed satisfaction with the team’s offseason acquisitions, he acknowledged the availability of several notable free agents, including the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, Blake Snell. Judge voiced his hope for another significant addition before Opening Day.

“I hope so. They’re always working on something,” Judge remarked on Tuesday. “That’s the beauty of being part of the Yankees. They’re relentless in their pursuit of improvement, whether through trades or free agency. I sense there might be another move in the pipeline, but one can never be sure. Time will tell.”

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has reiterated the team’s openness to strategic acquisitions, emphasizing that they haven’t halted their efforts. According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Yankees have presented an offer to Snell, who purportedly rejected a five-year, $150 million proposal from the Yankees earlier in the offseason.

In addition to discussing potential roster moves, Judge also shared insights from his interactions with the media:

“Incredible potential”
Judge praised the “diversity” that outfielders Soto, Verdugo, and Trent Grisham bring to the lineup. He was particularly impressed by Soto’s work ethic, noting that the young star’s day typically starts earlier than most; when Judge arrived at around 7 a.m., Soto was already putting in work in the batting cage.

“He’s a once-in-a-generation talent, especially in the batter’s box,” Judge remarked. “His demeanor, his confidence, his focus – it’s all remarkable. He’s locked in every single pitch. … Our lineup is going to be formidable, and I believe we’ll draw strength from each other.”
