In a significant trade on Wednesday night, the San Diego Padres made a major move with the New York Yankees, sending former Biloxi Shuckers outfielder Trent Grisham to New York in a seven-player deal that also involved three-time All-Star outfielder Juan Soto.

In exchange, San Diego acquired right-handed pitchers Michael King, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez, and Drew Thorpe, along with catcher Kyle Higashioka.

Grisham, who spent the entire 2018 season with Biloxi and played 63 games with the Shuckers in 2019, had a batting average of .233 with seven home runs, 31 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases in 107 games with Biloxi.

During his 2019 tenure with the Shuckers, Grisham posted a .254 batting average with 13 home runs, 41 RBIs, and an impressive 50 stolen bases. He earned recognition as a Southern League All-Star and received the Robin Yount Award, recognizing him as the Most Outstanding Minor League Player in the Brewers system.

Grisham, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, is coming off a 2023 season where he batted .198 with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. He and Soto are set to join a formidable outfield lineup that already features All-Stars Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, along with the newly-acquired Alex Verdugo.
