Tottenham Hotspur Defender Emerson Royal Closing in on AC Milan Move

Emerson Royal is closing in on a move to AC Milan, with Tottenham likely to get around €20 million for the Brazilian defender.

According to Newsman, AC Milan are close to finalizing a move with Tottenham for Emerson Royal. The 25-year-old has no place under Ange Postecoglou for the upcoming season, with Spurs open to a sale as a €20 million price tag has been mooted.

Emerson Royal to join AC Milan?

Ange Postecoglou is set to make some fundamental changes to his defensive ranks, and that would involve a few of his squad players leaving the club. Sergio Reguilon is a likely candidate, while Ryan Sessegnon, Jhapet Tanganga and Ivan Perisic have already gone as free agents. Emerson Royal could be the next in line for a departure, as AC Milan are closing in on the 25-year-old Tottenham ace.

AC Milan are close to agreeing personal terms with the right-back, as there’s still the small matter of paying what’s required to sign the 25-year-old Tottenham ace. A €20 million fee is mooted in the media, as Spurs will be open to cashing in on the Brazilian rather than prolonging a summer negotiating minor details.

In fact, a recent report stated that Spurs had lowered their asking price for Emerson from €30 million to €20 million, meaning that Milan would be able to afford the defender. In fact, the report states that the Rosoneri had a budget allocated around that figure for a new right-back and that they won’t be overspending should they decide to sign Emerson.

The Brazilian defender now appears closer than ever to signing for Milan, as the move might be finalised as soon as the transfer window opens. Spurs have already been looking for viable replacements, with Monaco’s Vanderson a reported target.

AC Milan’s summer plans

Milan feels they have a good enough squad ready to take on the new season, although they are expected to be busy in the summer market. Olivier Giroud’s departure to the MLS will make the club sign a new striker, with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee their preferred target in that role.

They are also eyeing an imposing defensive midfielder to improve their team, as Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana is a big target for Milan. Whether they get the Frenchman in light of heavy Premier League interest remains the question, as with these targets, the Rosoneri are expected to stay busy in the market.
