Georgia QB Commit Ryan Montgomery Shines on Day 1 of Elite 11 Finals!

Georgia quarterback commit Ryan Montgomery is currently participating in the Elite 11 Finals on the West Coast. He made a strong impression on the first night of drills, with 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins believing he is well-positioned for Day 2.

Ivins highlighted Montgomery as a quarterback who could establish himself among the top players after the first day of drills. He compared the quarterbacks’ performance to the Tour de France, noting that Ohio State commit Tavien St. Clair, Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet, and Alabama commit Keelon Russell have set themselves apart. Ivins sees Montgomery leading the group behind these top players and having the potential to close the gap.

“For me, it starts with Ryan Montgomery,” Ivins said on the 247Sports Football Recruiting Podcast. “He’s an accurate passer and an elite processor, although this setting doesn’t fully showcase that since the throws are predetermined. His arm was among the best, and I would rank him in the top five for today.”

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Montgomery has been committed to Georgia for a little over two months, having chosen the Bulldogs over Florida and South Carolina on April 17. He’s set to be a four-year starter at Findlay High School, where he has thrown for 7,584 yards and 89 touchdowns, and rushed for 740 yards and 15 more scores over three seasons. His performance in 2023 earned him Player of the Year honors from The Toledo Blade and a finalist spot for Ohio’s Mr. Football award.

Before his junior season, Montgomery won the quarterback accuracy challenge at Under Armour’s Future 50 camp and completed 68.6% of his passes for 3,377 yards and 38 touchdowns that fall. He also set a school record with six touchdown passes in a single game, breaking Ben Roethlisberger’s record. His efforts led Findlay to eight wins and a state playoff appearance.

After day one of the Elite 11 Finals, Montgomery ranked No. 5 in 247Sports’ standings, trailing St. Clair, Russell, Longstreet, and Missouri commit Matt Zollers. He had not been included in the Elite 11’s Top 11 ranking prior to the pro day and accuracy challenge workouts.

Ivins also praised Montgomery’s mobility and fit with the Georgia program. “He’s not the most dynamic athlete, but he can move the chains with his legs on Friday nights,” Ivins said. “I love the fit at Georgia. He’s a high-floor type of prospect. Comparing him to Carson Beck coming out of high school, I don’t see a big difference. I just love that fit for Georgia.”
