Yankees’ Aaron Judge to Bat Third Regularly

In Tampa, there’s a growing likelihood that Aaron Judge’s persistent requests to hit third in the lineup may finally be granted this season, a role he has long coveted.

During an appearance on his former hitting coach Sean Casey’s podcast, “The Mayor’s Office with Sean Casey,” Judge expressed his desire to bat third, particularly behind Juan Soto in the Yankees’ lineup. Judge, who has primarily been slotted into the two-hole in recent years, conveyed his admiration for the traditional role of the third hitter, citing his childhood idols and the allure of being the team’s “big heavy hitter” in that position.

Judge’s eagerness to hit third stems from the formidable depth of the Yankees’ lineup, emphasizing the challenges posed to opposing pitchers throughout. He specifically highlighted Soto’s ability to consistently reach base and provide power, making him an ideal candidate to hit behind.

Reflecting on his longstanding desire to bat third, Judge expressed his willingness to compete for the position, acknowledging the six-year duration of his requests to Yankees manager Aaron Boone.
