Michigan running back CJ Stokes, the first Wolverines player this season to utilize the transfer portal, declared his decision on X, expressing gratitude to Coach Harbaugh, Coach (Mike) Hart, and the entire staff for two enjoyable years in Ann Arbor. Stokes, with three years of eligibility remaining, had minimal playtime this season, accumulating only four carries for eight yards in two games. His freshman year showcased promise with 273 yards and one touchdown on 55 carries. Despite this, he faced limited opportunities in a crowded backfield led by Corum, Edwards, and Mullings. Stokes’ departure aligns with the expected NFL exits of Corum and Edwards, leaving Michigan with potential reinforcements in freshmen Hall and Cabana, alongside Franklin and Dunlap. Coach Jim Harbaugh might explore additional talent through the transfer portal to bolster the backfield.

Meanwhile, Michigan State linebacker Jacoby Windmon, entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility as a fifth-year senior, made the move after contributing significantly in the 2021 season. Despite a suspension affecting his playing time, Windmon recorded 49 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. His decision comes after missing the last nine games of the current season due to a reported pectoral injury.

Former Georgia state running back Marcus Carroll, boasting 1,350 yards and 13 touchdowns on 274 carries this season, declared his transfer to Missouri. Carroll, a former three-star recruit, aims to fill the void left by departing seniors Schrader and Peat.

Tennessee cornerback Doneiko Slaughter, concluding a four-year stint with 87 career tackles, including 32 this season, announced his departure from the program. Slaughter expressed gratitude for the support, development, and love at the University of Tennessee. Despite acknowledging Volnation’s role in making the university feel like home, Slaughter decided to enter the transfer portal, emphasizing personal growth and aspirations as the primary factors behind his decision.
