The quartet, selected by Melbourne in the 2016 AFLW draft, became foundational players for the Demons in the inaugural 2017 AFLW season. They’ve committed to the club with new deals extending their tenure, with Mithen signing a three-year contract until at least 2026, and Paxman, Pearce, and Lampard securing one-year contracts until at least 2024.

AFLW List Manager Todd Patterson commended their long-term dedication, emphasizing their role in shaping the program and culture. Patterson acknowledged the challenge of loyalty in AFLW, making this group’s commitment significant and earning them high regard within the club.

Mithen, recognized as a beloved teammate and a fiercely competitive midfielder, secured a three-year deal. She showcased her skills in the 2023 season, averaging 16 disposals per game and earning the Demon Spirit Award for embodying the club’s values.

Despite a hamstring injury, Paxman, a five-time All Australian and respected AFLW stalwart, averaged 18 disposals per game. Pearce, a two-time All Australian, contributed with speed in the center and mentorship, finishing third in Melbourne’s 2023 Best and Fairest.

Lampard, recovering from a season-ending wrist injury, demonstrated impactful defense, averaging 11 disposals and three tackles per match. Melbourne also announced four-year deals for captain Kate Hore and vice-captain Tyla Hanks, securing their commitment until at least 2027.
