Tiger Woods Badly Hurt in Car Crash!

Golf legend Tiger Woods narrowly escaped a life-threatening car accident in California on this day in 2021.

Woods, who was recuperating from back surgery, was driving alone at 7 a.m. local time when his SUV careened off the road at high speed, hitting the center divider and a tree before rolling several times along the roadside.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva stated that the crash would likely have been fatal had it not been for the vehicle’s sturdy interior, which remained intact and provided Woods with crucial protection from the worst of the impact.

Despite sustaining multiple injuries, including significant leg injuries, the 15-time major champion was conscious and able to communicate when found at the scene. He underwent emergency surgery at the nearby Harbor UCLA Medical Centre.

Following a three-week hospital stay, Woods was discharged to continue his recovery at home in Florida, receiving an outpouring of support from the public. He expressed gratitude to his fellow PGA Tour members for their gestures of solidarity, such as wearing his signature Sunday red during tournaments.

Initially reliant on a wheelchair, Woods eventually progressed to using crutches. However, during his first public press conference later that year, he dismissed the possibility of a full-time return to competitive golf.

“After my back fusion, I had to climb Mount Everest one more time. This time around, I don’t think I’ll have the body to climb Mount Everest, and that’s OK,” he remarked. “I can still participate in the game of golf. But as far as climbing the mountain again and getting all the way to the top, I don’t think that’s a realistic expectation of me.”

Despite downplaying his chances, Woods managed to make a remarkable showing at a tournament, making the cut and finishing 47th, which was considered a significant achievement given the circumstances.
