Shocking ‘Drug Culture’ Claims
Simon Goodwin, the coach of Melbourne in the AFL, is emphatic in denying any existence of a drug culture within the club, despite the recent anti-doping case involving Joel Smith that has cast a shadow over the team’s pursuit of a premiership.
Sports Integrity Australia (SIA) brought forth charges against Smith last month, alleging three violations of the Australian Football Anti-Doping Code, specifically related to the “trafficking or attempted trafficking” of cocaine to third parties.
While the accusations have stirred discussions about the broader implications for the club, Goodwin stands firm in his assertion that Melbourne does not harbor a drug culture. The Demons, currently in the midst of their premiership campaign, are determined to distance themselves from any negative associations and maintain focus on their on-field performance.
