K.J. Wright has officially joined the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff, as revealed on his podcast, K.J. All Day. The former NFL linebacker, who retired in 2022 after his tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders, will serve as an assistant linebackers coach and contribute to defensive quality control.

Wright, a key figure in the ‘Legion of Boom’ era of the Seattle Seahawks, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his coaching role. Despite only earning one Pro Bowl selection in 2016, he played a crucial part in Seattle’s elite defenses alongside Bobby Wagner.

The move to bring in K.J. Wright aligns with the 49ers’ trend of incorporating former Seahawks into their organization. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has notably welcomed ex-Pete Carroll assistants like Robert Saleh and the recently promoted Nick Sorensen as defensive coordinators. Additionally, former Seahawks coordinator Brian Schneider is the current special teams coordinator for the 49ers.

Wright’s transition to coaching marks an exciting chapter in his post-playing career, and the 49ers extend their congratulations on his new role, even if it involves working with a rival team.
