Michigan secured the unanimous top spot in the final Associated Press Top 25 college football poll of the season. This came after the Wolverines emerged victorious over Washington in the College Football Playoff championship game on Monday night, claiming their first national title in 26 years with a perfect 15-0 record. The Wolverines received all 61 first-place votes, standing as the sole unbeaten team in the nation. Washington, with a 14-1 record, secured the second position, marking their best final ranking since 1991 when they finished at No. 2.

Texas achieved the third spot with a 12-2 record, their highest ranking since 2009 when they finished second. Georgia (13-1) claimed the fourth position, while Alabama (12-2), which ended Georgia’s 29-game winning streak in the SEC title game to make the playoffs, landed in fifth place.

Florida State (13-1) and Oregon (12-2) shared the sixth position after a season that saw the Seminoles’ only loss in a lopsided Orange Bowl against Georgia. Missouri secured the eighth spot, marking their best finish since 2013 when they were ranked No. 5. Mississippi claimed the ninth position, contributing to the SEC having four teams in the top 10.

Ohio State rounded out the top 10, marking their worst final ranking since 2013 when they finished 12th. Clemson re-entered the poll at No. 20, extending their streak of being ranked at the end of the season to 13 years, which is the second-longest in the nation after Alabama’s 16 years.
