Red Sox Can’t Get Enough of Former All-Star Pitcher – The Interest is Skyrocketing!

The Boston Red Sox are actively seeking to acquire a starting pitcher in the upcoming offseason, and they have expressed substantial interest in a former All-Star player.

In a recent column by Jon Heyman from The New York Post, the status of various free-agent pitchers, including Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell, was discussed. The New York Mets were also mentioned as having connections to pitchers Shota Imanaga and Lucas Giolito, with Heyman noting that the Red Sox are particularly interested in Giolito.

Giolito’s career has been noteworthy, with a standout 2019 season where he achieved All-Star performance, boasting a 14-9 record and a 3.41 ERA with the Chicago White Sox. However, his performance took a dip in 2023, going 8-15 with a 4.88 ERA. Despite a decent showing in 21 starts with the White Sox, he struggled in six starts with the Guardians and Angels.

With a career record of 61-62 and a 4.43 ERA, Giolito remains a compelling option. The Red Sox, who previously pursued Yoshinobu Yamamoto, also have reported interest in Imanaga and are considering bringing back left-hander James Paxton.
