On his podcast, former NBA point guard Gilbert Arenas delivered a scathing critique of the Boston Celtics and their former All-Star, Paul Pierce. Dismissing Pierce’s prediction of the Celtics winning their 18th championship, Arenas dismissed the franchise as insignificant and characterized the 2008 championship Celtics team as easily forgotten. Arenas pointed out, “The bulk of their championships came before Paul Pierce’s birth, leaving doubt if anyone even remembers those victories. Over the past three decades, Boston’s impact on basketball history has waned. Despite once boasting legendary players and dominance, their relevance in the last 30 years has been minimal. They’ve only claimed one championship in that span, yet they carry themselves as a major force, despite fading into obscurity.”hi
