YANKEES IN EXPLOSIVE MOVE! Shocking Link to Another Cy Young-Winning Pitcher Revealed as Free Agency Drags On

Restlessness persists in the Bronx as the New York Yankees strive to secure an elite pitcher before the commencement of the 2024 MLB season.

Having already made a notable addition to their outfield with the acquisition of LF Juan Soto, the Yankees have supplemented their roster with various ancillary signings, positioning themselves for an improvement upon their 82-80 record in 2023.

According to Fan Nation’s Patrick McAvoy, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale confirmed that the Yankees are actively pursuing another high-caliber pitcher following their unsuccessful bid for Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Nightengale pointed to general manager Brian Cashman’s recent efforts to explore the possibility of acquiring Shane Bieber from the Cleveland Guardians, stating:

“The Yankees also have had discussions for Jesús Luzardo of the Miami Marlins and Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Guardians. They could even jump into the Josh Hader marketplace. But the Yankees will spend, trade, and do everything possible to assure they are playing deep into October.”

Shane Bieber, the 2020 AL Cy Young award winner, has consistently delivered a strong performance. While his ERA (3.80) and FIP (3.87) experienced an uptick in 2023, Bieber concluded the season with a 1.8 WAR and recorded his fifth complete game since entering the majors in 2018.

Financially equipped, the Yankees possess the resources to pursue Bieber. Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has expressed a willingness to invest in top-tier talent without exceeding the $300 million annual payroll mark—a dual objective achievable through such a move.

Despite being linked to other enticing free agents and trade targets in a competitive market, the Yankees’ winter remains a cycle of speculation until the commencement of Spring training.
