Tottenham presented with two opportunities to strike Juventus swap deal in January

In the January transfer window, Tottenham may strike a trade with Juventus to acquire two of Ange Postecoglou’s top targets.

Two possible swap agreements involving Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might allow Tottenham to secure two of Ange Postecoglou’s January transfer targets. According to reports, two Juventus players are being pursued, and the Danish midfielder may depart in the opposite direction after slipping in the hierarchy this year.

Hojbjerg was connected to a summer transfer out of North London, but Atletico Madrid expressed interest in the player. However, the deal never happened. After being called back to the team due to an injury and suspension crisis, he may try to quit the team as Postecoglou prefers Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

Cristian Giuntoli, the sporting director of Juventus, reportedly attended Spurs’ match against Chelsea earlier this month with the express purpose of watching Hojbjerg, according to the Telegraph. His backup was also at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the Serie A team was in need of midfield reinforcements due to the possibility of lengthy suspensions for both Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli.

Hojbjerg might end up in Turin through a clever trade, as Spurs are interested in two Juventus players who could help arrange a trade. The Premier League team is reportedly ready to send Samuel Iling-Junior back to England in January, according to Italian publication Udineseblog.

Under Massimiliano Allegri, the former Chelsea academy standout has made few appearances this season. If he can convince Hojbjerg to join Juventus, they might profit from him. Postecoglou would have another striker option in Iling-Junior, who can grow alongside Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Brennan Johnson.

But if an agreement with Iling-Junior cannot be reached, Hojbjerg might also be included in a trade for Andrea Cambiaso, a left defender for Juventus. Given that Spurs have been successful in the past in acquiring players from the Italian powerhouses, such as Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, further defensive protection on the left side of the line may be needed.
