Star Wide Receiver Ryan Williams Shocks Fans!

Five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams has reaffirmed his commitment to Alabama, making the announcement on Wednesday. Initially committing to the Crimson Tide in October 2022, Williams reopened his commitment on January 10, 2024, following the retirement of Nick Saban. After visiting Texas A&M and Auburn in the past two weeks, Williams ultimately chose to play for new Tide coach Kalen DeBoer.

Williams, ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver and the eighth overall player in the 2024 recruiting cycle by 247Sports, had originally been part of the 2025 class but accelerated his graduation in December 2023. He is anticipated to join the team this summer.

Expressing his confidence in Coach DeBoer, Williams stated, “What you see is exactly what you get with [DeBoer]. I definitely had a strong impression of him. He was just telling me how I could fit into the offense and how easy it would be to carry over what I do now to the next level.”

Gabe Brooks, national scouting analyst for 247Sports, describes Williams as an “electric playmaker with excellent top-end speed and make-you-miss elusiveness.” Noted for his height, length, and dynamic abilities both as an outside receiver and in the slot, Williams is expected to bring versatility to the team with the flexibility to take hand-offs. His high per-touch rates and immediate impact in the return game are highlighted as strengths for his transition to the next level.
