SHOCKING Twist: Minnesota Vikings’ $24 Million Star Player Set to ABANDON Ship!

The much-anticipated midseason addition of guard Dalton Risner by the Minnesota Vikings, a move eagerly awaited by fans, may be of shorter duration than expected, according to insights from former Vikings offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles, now working as an NFL agent. Despite Risner’s commendable performance throughout the 2023 season, Sirles asserts that the 28-year-old has demonstrated his capabilities to such an extent that he will likely seek a substantial contract in free agency come March, potentially putting the Vikings in a difficult position.

Risner was signed by the Vikings to a one-year, $3 million deal three weeks into the season, a move that proved crucial in light of subsequent events, such as Kirk Cousins’ season-ending Achilles injury. Demonstrating his prowess as a coveted pass-protector, Risner impressively did not allow a single sack on 485 pass-blocking snaps across 12 games. Pro Football Focus (PFF) projections suggest that Risner could command a lucrative three-year, $24 million deal with $15 million guaranteed and an average annual value of $8 million per season.

While Risner undoubtedly contributed significantly to the Vikings’ success in pass protection, Sirles emphasizes the importance of the team addressing other pressing needs on the roster. Despite Risner’s impact, Sirles suggests that the Vikings might need to let him explore free agency, given the potential financial constraints associated with his expected contract demands. This strategic decision would allow the Vikings to allocate resources to address critical areas of the team and maintain roster flexibility moving forward.
