Preview: Sacramento Kings vs. San Antonio Spurs
When the San Antonio Spurs play the Sacramento Kings at the Frost Bank Centre tonight, they’ll try to halt the bleeding. The Spurs started the season with a 3-2 record, but they have since lost six straight games. San Antonio’s record at home in the 2023–24 campaign is similarly at 1-4.
The Kings have a 6-4 record going into tonight’s game. They had a sluggish start to the season, but they have since won four straight. Particularly noteworthy have been their three most recent victories—against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers. Domantas Sabonis and All-Star De’Aaron Fox lead Sacramento. In five games, Fox has averaged 30 points and 5.8 assists, whereas in 10 games, Sabonis has averaged 19.1 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists.
Spurs of San Antonio Injury Update
There were no injuries for the Spurs to cope with at the start of the season. Unfortunately, South Texas is experiencing a surge in injury cases. Tre Jones’ hamstring issue will keep him out of action for another game tonight. He will have to miss the game for the third time in a row because of an injury.
Even worse, the Spurs had additional injury news today. With an adductor injury that kept him out of action earlier in the season, Devin Vassell is sidelined against the Kings. The Spurs will be devastated if Vassell is need to miss several games.
Jeremy Sochan, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Keldon Johnson will thankfully be able to participate. Due to injuries, Mamukelashvili and Johnson missed the most recent game, and Sochan was unreliable before games.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
We can safely say that head coach Gregg Popovich will start Victor Wembanyama at power forward, Zach Collins at center, Keldon Johnson at small forward and Jeremy Sochan at point guard. The two most likely choices for Popovich to start at shooting guard are Malaki Branham and Julian Champagnie. Both Branham and Champagnie have started games this year due to injuries.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Kings
The over/under is now at 238.5 points, with the Kings favoured by 8.5 points. The Spurs are favoured by most experts. Sure, it will be painful to be without Tre Jones and Devin Vassell, but San Antonio hasn’t played since Tuesday, so they ought to be ready for one of their best games of the year. Popovich and the Spurs should be prepared to keep this game within eight points after their recent humiliating losses.
