Jaw-Dropping Decision Revealed: Browns Settle on Starting QB for Epic Showdown Against Rams!
The Cleveland Browns are gearing up to have veteran quarterback Joe Flacco lead the charge against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.
With rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson still sidelined due to concussion protocol after a hard hit in the game against the Denver Broncos, Flacco has been taking all the first-team reps in practice this week. Despite being inactive against the Broncos after a recent signing, Flacco has swiftly moved up to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart and is poised to make his debut start with Cleveland, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
As of Thursday, November 30, it appears that Flacco, at 38 years old, will take the reins for the 7-4 Browns, aiming to maintain their playoff position. With Thompson-Robinson still in the concussion protocol, Flacco’s experience as a 16th-year pro will be crucial in steering the team, especially as they currently hold the No. 6 seed, fending off competition from other playoff hopefuls.
For the Browns, avoiding back-to-back losses is imperative, especially after their recent 29-12 defeat to the Broncos disrupted a three-game winning streak, which included victories over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.
This starting opportunity marks Flacco’s fourth stint with an NFL team, having most recently played for the New York Jets, where he accumulated 1,051 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions in four starts. Eager for the chance, Flacco expressed his excitement, emphasizing the patience required when opportunities arise.
The Browns’ confidence in Flacco stems from his track record, with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt praising his accuracy, velocity, and overall skills showcased in recent practices. Despite injury challenges, the Browns can rely on Flacco as a dependable option during this period.
In a positive development for Flacco, star wide receiver Amari Cooper is set to play against the Rams after recovering from a rib injury suffered against the Broncos. Cooper, who has endured quarterback uncertainties throughout the season, praised Flacco’s performance, noting the elegance of his throws and expressing optimism for their upcoming matchup.
Heading into the game against the Rams as 3.5-point underdogs, the Browns, led by Flacco, aim to overcome adversity and secure a crucial victory to stay competitive in the playoff race.
