Global Shockwaves as Tiger Woods Drops Bombshell News with LIV Golf
Tiger Woods, a prominent figure on the PGA Tour, sparked significant discussion within the LIV Golf community following his noteworthy ascent of 430 places in the Official World Golf Ranking. This surge occurred after he secured an 18th-place finish at the Hero World Challenge on Sunday, an event he hosted, which featured no cut and only 20 participants.
Before the tournament, Tiger Woods held the lowest ranking of his entire career at 1,328th in the OWGR. However, his performance in the unofficial PGA Tour event propelled him to the 898th position in the OWGR. The peculiar aspect of this rise is that LIV Golf events, in general, do not contribute to OWGR points, making it a source of frustration for both LIV Golf enthusiasts and players.
It is worth noting that LIV Golf’s request to earn OWGR points was previously rejected, mainly due to the league’s events having only 48 players and lacking a cut. In contrast, the Hero World Challenge had an even smaller field with 20 competitors and also featured no cut. Despite these differences, Woods managed to accumulate a noteworthy number of OWGR points, prompting diverse reactions on social media as fans shared their perspectives on the matter.

You suggesting he couldn’t beat any of those guys who are rated 899 and below? https://t.co/sUUhJUm4mG

The irony is of this is you want points in a no-cut event as well. If he came in last at LIV you’d still be crying…and I bet he’d be top 20 in that field as well.

Tiger Woods jumped 430 spots in the "Official World Golf Rankings" from 1328 to 898 this week.
What did Tiger do for this astronomical increase in OWGR points?
Tiger finished 18th out of 20 in a no-cut tournament hosted by himself.

Accruing OWGR points holds significance as it determines a player’s eligibility for golf’s four major tournaments. Presently, it is noteworthy that LIV Golf events are not considered in the calculation of OWGR points.
