The No. 1 and 9-0 Ohio State Buckeyes, led by head coach Ryan Day, will play the 3-6 Michigan State Spartans, led by interim head coach Harlon Barnett, at 7:30 p.m. ET today at Ohio Stadium, the world’s premier college football stadium.

The Buckeyes held their top ranking in the 2023 College Football Playoff rankings this past Tuesday. With three first-place votes from the media and five from the coaches, they are still ranked third in the AP and Coaches polls. There is no ranking for Michigan State.

Since 1912, Ohio State and Michigan State have faced off 51 times. The Spartans took five of the first seven games, but OSU has a 36-15 series advantage overall and is riding a seven-game winning run. It should go without saying that Urban Meyer’s team’s 2015 defeat to MSU resulted from his forgetting that Ezekiel Elliott was a member of the squad.

Since 2000, Michigan State has only emerged victorious in three of their 19 meetings in this rivalry, and they have only scored more than 20 points in four of those contests.
