GOLD COAST aims to strengthen its key position lineup in the upcoming AFLW Trade Period by actively pursuing deals for Western Bulldogs standout Katie Lynch and Melbourne’s Charlotte Wilson.

Lynch, a key figure at centre-half back in the AFLW’s All-Australian team last season, had been exploring various options. However, the Suns have emerged as a leading contender for her services. Widely recognized as one of the league’s top key-position players, the 23-year-old has demonstrated her versatility by excelling at both ends of the field in her 42-game career—35 with the Bulldogs and seven with Collingwood.

Gold Coast is also eyeing a trade for Wilson, who has faced challenges securing a spot in Melbourne’s starting lineup since her move from Carlton last year. The 22-year-old has played just eight games over two seasons with the Demons, compared to 22 appearances with the Blues.

Despite the Suns’ keen interest in these players, uncertainties arise regarding the completion of deals, especially considering that Gold Coast currently lacks a second-round pick as the Trade Period kicks off on December 7.

Gold Coast’s pursuit of Lynch and Wilson aligns with the team’s ambitions to build on the success of the 2023 campaign. Under Cameron Joyce’s leadership, the Suns finished with a 6-3-1 record, qualifying for the finals for the first time in the club’s history.
