Tiger Woods has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Bob Jones Award by the USGA, marking a significant recognition of his dedication to sportsmanship and adherence to golf’s rich traditions.

The Bob Jones Award, the highest honor bestowed by the USGA, acknowledges Woods’ profound impact on the game beyond his exceptional performance on the course. Mike Whan, CEO of the USGA, emphasized the enduring influence of Woods’ journey, which has transformed the landscape of golf and inspired future generations.

While Woods is accustomed to receiving accolades for his remarkable achievements in golf, including 15 majors and 82 career victories on the PGA Tour, the Bob Jones Award highlights his broader contributions to the sport’s ethos and ethos.

Scheduled to be honored during the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina on June 12, Woods’ legacy extends beyond his on-course triumphs. Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022 and awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump in 2019, Woods’ nine USGA championships, including three U.S. Junior Amateurs, three U.S. Amateurs, and three U.S. Opens, underscore his dominance in the sport.

In his statement, Woods expressed humility at receiving an award named after golf icon Bob Jones, renowned for his integrity and contributions to the game. Beyond golf, Woods’ philanthropic efforts through the TGR Foundation and initiatives like STEM-based education at the TGR Learning Lab exemplify his commitment to empowering communities and fostering educational opportunities.

Previous recipients of the Bob Jones Award include legendary figures such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Mickey Wright, Ben Hogan, and former President George H.W. Bush.
