Top NL contender emerging as dark horse
Blake Snell might find himself on a team accustomed to Cy Young Award winners, as Jon Heyman of the New York Post, speaking on “MLB Network,” doesn’t dismiss the possibility of the Philadelphia Phillies joining the race for Snell.
Heyman acknowledges the Phillies’ interest in securing another high-caliber pitcher, citing their success in free agency. While Heyman views the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels as the more logical choices for Snell, he sees the Phillies as a viable option.
Despite the Giants and Angels being currently perceived as the frontrunners, the Phillies, having reached the NLCS in consecutive years, have strengthened their starting pitching this offseason. The return of ace righty Aaron Nola and progress on an extension for another key pitcher exemplify their proactive approach.
Adding the dynamic lefty Snell to their rotation would address a dimension the Phillies currently lack. Although another team may lead the race for the NL Cy Young winner, Philadelphia is emerging as a potential contender for Snell.
