Toronto Buzzing with Social Media Speculation About Cody Bellinger – What’s the Real Story?

The departure of Shohei Ohtani marks the end of a potential acquisition for the Toronto Blue Jays as he secured a substantial 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers, leaving a void in the team’s pursuit.

However, attention now shifts towards the possibility of Cody Bellinger joining the Blue Jays. A recent Instagram story by Chase Carter, Bellinger’s fiancee, showcased Toronto’s skyline, fueling speculation about his potential move.

Bellinger, renowned for his achievements as the 2019 NL MVP with the Dodgers, had an impressive season with the Cubs in 2023, boasting a career-high batting average of .307 along with 26 home runs, 97 RBIs, and a .881 OPS, earning him a Silver Slugger award.

Scott Boras, Bellinger’s agent, acknowledged Bellinger’s positive experience in Chicago but emphasized his client’s belief in excelling in any team environment: ‘‘Cody did have a great experience in Chicago. But where Cody can play and play well — he feels he can play well anywhere.’’

Although Twitter buzzed with rumors of Ohtani heading to Toronto after purported sightings on a plane, these speculations were unfounded. As for Carter’s Toronto-centric post, it could either hint at Bellinger’s plans or merely reference the ongoing Toronto Fashion Expo, offering no concrete clues.
