Steelers to Re-Signing Mason Rudolph

Published

on

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in competition with “several teams” showing interest in quarterback Mason Rudolph. However, according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, there remains a possibility for Rudolph to return to the Steelers.

Initially, after the Russell Wilson signing, reports indicated that Rudolph was unlikely to re-sign with the team, as competition seemed slim. It appeared he might seek opportunities elsewhere. Yet, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo later revealed that multiple teams are eyeing Rudolph during the ongoing legal tampering period.

Despite this interest, Florio suggests that Pittsburgh could still retain their veteran backup. “With the Steelers poised to sign quarterback Russell Wilson after his release from the Broncos, many have assumed they’d part ways with veteran backup Mason Rudolph.

However, that may not be the case,” writes Florio. “According to a league source, Rudolph remains a possibility for Pittsburgh.” While Rudolph might not be inclined to return if he has to compete with both Kenny Pickett and Wilson, he could consider resuming his role as the third string if the market doesn’t offer the expected value.

Nevertheless, if he receives better offers elsewhere, he may opt for those. The Steelers have maintained communication with Rudolph’s representatives throughout the offseason and are likely to continue discussions as they determine their course of action in the coming days.

As of now, the door for Rudolph’s return remains ajar, but external offers may ultimately sway his decision. Stay updated with All Steelers for the latest news, exclusive interviews, film breakdowns, and more!
