In the 2023 season, the San Francisco 49ers’ offense achieved a milestone unparalleled in NFL history. During their 27-10 victory against the Washington Commanders at FedExField, tight end George Kittle reached over 1,000 receiving yards, marking the fourth offensive player for the 49ers to achieve 1,000 or more scrimmage yards in the season.

This remarkable feat included running back Christian McCaffrey (2,023 yards), wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk (1,317 yards), and Deebo Samuel (1,085 yards). This accomplishment makes the 49ers the first team in NFL history to have a running back, two receivers, and a tight end each amass 1,000 or more yards from scrimmage in a single season, as noted in the 49ers Game Notes.

Additionally, quarterback Brock Purdy set a franchise record with 4,280 passing yards this season, contributing to the 49ers becoming the fourth team in NFL history to have both a quarterback with 4,000 or more passing yards and four players with 1,000 or more yards from scrimmage, according to the 49ers Game Notes.

The receiving duo of Aiyuk and Kittle, both surpassing 1,000 yards, is the first for the 49ers since franchise legends Terrell Owens (1,097) and Jerry Rice (1,157) achieved the feat in 1998.

While the 49ers’ historic offensive achievements have elevated the team to new heights this season, there is still work to be done. With the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed secured, many of the team’s starters will rest in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Rams. This break will be followed by a first-round bye, preparing the team for a potential deep playoff run.
