Browns Deshaun Watson injury

The Cleveland Browns’ decision to replace offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt with Ken Dorsey does not signal a reduction in Deshaun Watson’s mobility for the upcoming season, despite the injury that impacted his 2023 performance. Head coach Kevin Stefanski emphasized Watson’s enduring mobility, expressing the intent to coach him on injury prevention while recognizing the effectiveness of Watson’s running threat. Watson, who joined the Browns in March 2022, signed a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract. The 28-year-old quarterback faced a suspension and shoulder injury in the 2023 season, making six starts before being sidelined. Stefanski and the team are optimistic that Dorsey can better leverage the skills of a modern dual-threat quarterback than Van Pelt. General manager Andrew Berry emphasized the priority of Watson’s availability, expressing satisfaction with his performance before the shoulder injury. Despite rumors of a potential trade, the Browns aim for Watson’s availability and high-level play in the upcoming season.
