Wednesday’s Injury Update: Browns Receive Positive News, Texans Face Challenges with Several Key Players Absent.
The Cleveland Browns opted for a walkthrough during their Wednesday practice in preparation for a challenging stretch featuring two games within five days. Despite the rigorous schedule, there was positive news on the injury front ahead of their matchup with the Houston Texans. Linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. and center Ethan Pocic participated in practice, while left guard Joel Bitonio, safety Juan Thornhill, edge rusher Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, and linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk were the only players listed as not practicing.
Bitonio’s back issue, which forced him out of the previous game, is showing improvement, although it remains a key injury to monitor this week. The potential return of Bitonio, along with Pocic and Teller, would optimize the Browns’ offensive line, potentially boosting pass protection and aiding the running game that struggled against the Chicago Bears.
Thornhill’s lingering calf injury continues to pose challenges, with no definitive timeline for his return. Despite Ronnie Hickman’s commendable performance in Thornhill’s absence, the Browns prefer having all options available as they await Grant Delpit’s recovery from a groin injury.
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo’s potential return from a pec injury remains uncertain, but the team hasn’t ruled it out entirely. Quarterback Joe Flacco is newly listed with a calf injury, while cornerback Denzel Ward fully participated in practice.

On the Houston Texans’ side, there are indications that quarterback C.J. Stroud may not play in the upcoming game due to lingering symptoms, prompting the team to focus on his health. If Stroud is unavailable, Case Keenum is expected to start at quarterback. The Texans had several players absent from practice, including top receiver Nico Collins with a calf injury, Noah Brown, John Metchie, Robert Woods, and impact pass rusher Will Anderson dealing with various ailments.
