Trouble for Vikings! Find Out Which Two Stars Made the 2024 Pro Bowl, Plus Six Shocking Alternates Revealed! 🏈πŸ”₯ #VikingsGlory #ProBowlMadness

On Wednesday, the NFL announced that Vikings outside linebacker Danielle Hunter and long snapper Andrew DePaola have been chosen for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. Both players secured their spots as NFC starters through a selection process that considers input from players, coaches, and fans.

This marks the fourth Pro Bowl selection for Hunter, who, in a contract year, has delivered an impressive performance with 15.5 sacks, 21 total tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles this season. DePaola, on the other hand, earns his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod.

In addition to Hunter and DePaola, six Vikings players have been named as alternates, indicating they could participate if other players opt out due to reasons like injury or Super Bowl involvement. The alternates, along with their positions in the alternate queue, are as follows:

– FB C.J. Ham (first alternate)
– TE T.J. Hockenson (first)
– S Josh Metellus (second)
– C Garrett Bradbury (third)
– T Christian Darrisaw (fourth)
– S Harrison Smith (fourth)
*Note: Hockenson is sidelined for the season with a torn ACL and MCL, making him ineligible for the Pro Bowl despite an outstanding year.

Last season, the Vikings had seven players selected for the Pro Bowl when they secured 13 wins and the NFC North title. However, this year, their representation might be limited to just two players.

Surprisingly, Christian Darrisaw is listed as a fourth alternate at tackle, despite having an impressive season with the fourth-highest PFF grade among all offensive tackles in the league. The voting places him as the seventh-best tackle in the NFC, trailing the three selected players and the top three alternates, a decision that seems questionable.

C.J. Ham has an opportunity for his second Pro Bowl appearance due to the nature of his position, even with limited offensive snaps. If the 49ers, led by Kyle Juszczyk, reach the Super Bowl, Ham could be included.

Josh Metellus, who had a versatile and productive breakout season, has a chance to make it to the Pro Bowl, leading fan voting at strong safety. However, he would require a few opt-outs for entry.

Notable omissions from the alternates include Camryn Bynum (arguably outperforming Smith) and Brian O’Neill (competing with Bradbury in a more challenging position). Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson would likely have made the cut if not for their injuries.
