Gabby Thomas Denies Feud with Sha’Carri Richardson, Condemns False Rumors.

Olympic champion Gabby Thomas has spoken out against rumors of a rivalry with fellow sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, denying any tension between them despite widespread online speculation. Addressing claims that she and Richardson had a physical altercation at a recent relay camp, Thomas clarified they have a respectful, professional relationship as they prepare for the Paris Olympic Games.

Thomas, who has won three Olympic gold medals, called the rumors some of the most damaging she has encountered. She remarked on the internet’s tendency to pit prominent female athletes against each other, especially in the track and field arena. “People on the internet love to create this fake beef between Sha’Carri and me, but it’s simply not true,” Thomas explained in her interview on the Why Not Me? With Mike Johnson podcast.

Emphasizing their camaraderie, Thomas stated that while they do not train together, they share mutual respect and often collaborate during relay races. “We are two normal people who get along well when we meet. People imagine a fight every time we’re around each other, and I hate it. It does nothing positive,” Thomas shared, expressing her frustration with rumors that she believes are harmful, particularly for representation in the sport.

Both athletes have enjoyed successful seasons in 2024, solidifying their reputations as leading figures in track and field. At the Paris Olympics, Richardson secured a silver medal in the women’s 100m and led the women’s 4x100m relay team to victory. Thomas, meanwhile, captured gold in the 200m and played a crucial role in Team USA’s gold-winning performances in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay races.
