Green Bay Packers Welcome Robert Saleh as Consultant Ahead of Critical NFC North Matchup

The Green Bay Packers return to action in Week 11 after their bye, ready to face the Chicago Bears in an NFC North showdown on Sunday. Green Bay, aiming to bounce back from their 24-14 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9, hopes the break has recharged the team for this crucial divisional clash.

The Packers’ defensive unit, which has excelled at forcing turnovers this season (with 19 takeaways), will play a vital role against Chicago. The defense faces a challenge in stopping rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, whose playmaking abilities could test Green Bay’s secondary. Applying pressure to Williams and capitalizing on potential rookie mistakes will be essential for the Packers’ game plan.

In preparation for the Bears, the Packers will have an additional asset on their sideline. Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has joined Green Bay as a consultant for the week, according to Zach Kruse of Packers Wire. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Saleh’s presence to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman on “The Matt Schneidman Show.” Although Saleh’s role is described as a “fluid” consultancy, he is expected to be with the team through Friday, contributing insights to the defensive scheme.

Saleh’s connection with Green Bay dates back to his previous experience with the team. After his surprising departure from the Jets in October, following their 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, Saleh began assisting the Packers informally. His expertise could prove valuable in strategizing against Chicago’s offense and helping Green Bay regain their defensive momentum.

As Sunday’s matchup approaches, the Packers look to Saleh’s knowledge and the defensive unit’s strengths to propel them back into the win column and make a statement in the NFC North.
