Video: Luka Doncic “Dough his Cap” to The Celtics After Game 5 Loss
The Dallas Mavericks had an incredible run.
They pulled off three upsets en route to the NBA Finals, taking care of the No. 4-seeded Los Angeles Clippers and then the No. 1-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder and No. 2-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves.
Then, their lack of experience on the biggest stage was painfully evident when they came across the Boston Celtics’ juggernaut.
The Celtics had already been battle-tested and on the losing end of this spectrum, and they knew what it took to get the job done.
That’s why, following the loss, Luka Doncic tipped his hat to them and gave them their flowers not only for being the great team that they are but also for how the front office managed to keep them together through thick and thin (Via NBA).
It might sound obvious, but experience matters.
All great players have failed more times than they’ve succeeded, and failure has molded them into the legendary stars they’ve gone on to become.
One could argue that Doncic left something to be desired in the NBA Finals, and that would be fair.
But he was quite banged up and was still their best player.
Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, was a proven veteran with NBA Finals experience, yet he looked like a rookie for most of the series.
Even so, this Mavs team is mostly young and should be very good for years to come, and this definitely won’t be the last time we see Luka Doncic reaching the final stage.
