Kittle hospitalized!
George Kittle left a lasting impression on scouts during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine when, as a soon-to-be 49ers tight end, he endured a memorable accident. In an episode of NFL Films’ “A Football Life” released in November, Kittle recounted the peculiar start to a crucial performance. Feeling stressed and with dry eyes and nose, he participated in a run-blocking drill where the bottom of the pad unexpectedly hit him in the nose, causing a nosebleed. Despite this, Kittle continued testing, using toilet paper to manage the situation. Shaken by the incident, he finished as the ninth-best tight end at the combine with notable scores in athleticism, including a 4.52-second 40-yard dash. Kittle’s athleticism and workouts with Iowa teammates, especially a memorable session with C.J. Beathard and 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello, contributed to his rise on 2017 NFL Draft boards. Despite initial reluctance, Kittle’s performance in the workout ultimately led to his visit to the 49ers and solidified his draft position alongside Beathard. This incident added a unique chapter to Kittle’s journey, showcasing his determination amid unexpected challenges.
