Shocking Twist: Joc Pederson’s Deal with Phillies Falls Through! What Went Wrong?

Contrary to what some fans may have inferred from Joc Pederson’s Instagram post, the Philadelphia Phillies have not officially signed the veteran slugger. A source from the team clarified that Pederson’s social media post does not indicate any finalized deal.

Pederson shared a photo of himself with the Phillie Phanatic on Instagram, accompanied by the caption “It’s always sunny in Philadelphia” and the song “Dancing On My Own” by Calum Scott playing in the background. Despite the suggestive nature of the post, the Phillies organization denies any agreement with Pederson.

Originally drafted in the 11th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pederson spent the initial part of his career with the Dodgers, winning a World Series title in the shortened 2020 season. Following a midseason trade from the Chicago Cubs, he contributed to the Atlanta Braves’ 2021 World Series victory, hitting three playoff home runs during the postseason.

For the past two seasons, Pederson has played for the San Francisco Giants, posting a slash line of .255/.351/.470 with 38 home runs, 121 RBIs, and an .821 OPS across 255 games. Although Pederson’s future remains uncertain, there is no indication at this time that he will be joining the Phillies in 2024.
