Breaking News! 2 Ex-Dodgers Star Prospects Make Shocking Moves to American League Teams – You Won’t Believe Where They Ended Up!

A pair of former top prospects from the Los Angeles Dodgers have secured spots in the American League through minor league deals. Dennis Santana, a right-handed pitcher, inked a deal with the New York Yankees, while outfielder Willie Calhoun signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels, the Dodgers’ crosstown rival.

The news on Santana’s move was reported by Jessica Kleinschmidt, a broadcaster for the Oakland A’s, while Sam Blum, an Angels insider from The Athletic, broke the news on Calhoun.

Santana, once ranked as high as the Dodgers’ No. 7 overall prospect in 2019, experienced a decline in stock due to persistent health issues. Spending three-and-a-half seasons in the Dodgers organization from 2018 to 2021, he compiled a 2-2 record with a 6.42 ERA, 26 strikeouts, and a 5.30 FIP in 32 games. In 2021, Santana was traded to the Texas Rangers, where he spent two seasons before a brief stint with the New York Mets in 2023, pitching in nine games.

On the other hand, Calhoun, who reached as high as the No. 4 prospect in 2017 with the Dodgers, was traded to the Texas Rangers in the same year as part of the Yu Darvish deal. Despite the expectations, the trade did not result in a championship. Now, at 29 years old, Calhoun returns to the city where his career began, albeit with a new team. We extend our best wishes to Calhoun and Santana as they embark on the upcoming season with their respective new teams.
